Stylish Handbags

- Where can I buy a high quality, stylish handbag at non-designer prices?
As much as I'd love to have a designer bag, I can't nearly afford it. But I am willing and able to invest a smaller amount in the right bag. Here's what I need: a very high quality, fairly large, preferably leather purse/handbag/satchel/etc. Preferably dark brown or black or other neutral colors (I LOVE Burberry's Nova Check, or plaid wool). Style is negotiable - not overly trendy, fairly classic and somewhat convservative (no lime green hobos). I am much more interested in QUALITY than brand name. I want a bag that is well built, will last, and looks expensive (even if it isn't). Are there any high quality, stylish, sophisticated brands out there that I can pick up for around $200 or less? I am fine with last season's bags, but I will NOT buy a fake (reeks of desperation and pretentiousness to me). I know $200 isn't really much for a bag, but that's what I can afford...

A check outlet stores and believe it or not thrift and consignment stores espeacially in areas that are high society. You often find great items at bargin prices and I wouldnt be really specific about what you want even paying full price if you go in with a general idea ( big and leather) you might find more option but its like Murrphey's law or something that if you know exactly what you want you arent gonna find it. Plus check clearance racks and three day sales. Also small mom and pop boutiques often run sales when chains wont.

- What is a stylish yet inexpensive designer handbag?
I'm asking for a handbag for Christmas, but don't want my parents spending insane amounts of money for it. I'm looking for a tote handbag in casual colors that I can use anywhere. (I'm 18 years old; no old lady or Juicy Couture suggestions please! :] ) *for example, there's one that I can't think of the brand, but it has chestnut-brown leather handles, is a totebag, comes in a variety of colors, the material looks pretty sturdy. Not sure if that helps, but the name of that bag or any other suggestions fitting the detail above would be greatly appreciated!

A Kathy purses are ubber cute, I'm 18 too & thats the only purse I carry because they're hot & verrrry big so it could be like a tote.
